gauging intrest: repairing radio surounds

well i repaired my radio suround with some fiberglass. it was cracked at the top and missing a bit. i repaired it with fiberglass and im going to paint it back to the stock color and add some clear coat. now it was pretty simple to fix it (ive been working with fg for awhile now), and the costs were pretty cheap as well. now i know there are other options of replacing a broken suround out there. now im curious if anyone would be intrested in this service. and if so at what price would you you feel fair?

i used JB weld on mine, works just fine. i also would suggest not clear coating them, with the use and abuse the surround gets it may chip off then look hideous, just some plasti paint would probably make them look good as new.

yea, they may be a good idea. ill have todo some experimenting with it. i was thinking of around $20-25 plus shipping to fix um. doesnt take all that long and is pretty easy if they arent totally broken

eh.. personally I'd spend the 100$ on the CF surround from fc3s.org and call it a day.

its like $160!! (the cf surround) Ya im missing my center dash bezel also and i was highly considering the cf surround.

Heres the thing, what would you cut the CF with? I think it would be pretty hard to match the vent holes and everything to a CF piece, cause if u mess up ur fooked!

my input: if youre good with FG, make a mold and just make all FG ones. make em, get em smooth, and sray em with gelcoat or primer. shouldnt cost that much, and i'd pay 60-70 bucks for one.

yeah .. with out making new ones my options are like ebay, and what not ..

although i think on mazdatrix the replacements arent too expensive ... like 50 bucks or something ..

so try to keep the cost around that, and i will be interested

You also might think of reinforcing them so they dont flex and crack too. Just my .02

CF isn't an option for people who want to keep their car stock looking.
