what I find intresting is that people are saying things like why waist money on a n/a and just buy a T2 and n/a's are gay. what about all the people that are new to rotarys and want to learn about them people always tell them to get an n/a first. mabey they want to learn about how to modifi a car first before the go and spend the money to buy a T2 and this guy is offering them a chance to mess with there car first. and another thing if the n/a's are so bad why did mazda spend so much money to make them?

Quoted for truth. A guy I know spent about $200 for a cold air intake for his Volkswagen GTI. If he can spend that much on an econobox, wouldn't it be fair to expect about (at least) the same cost for a better-made sports car that is the FC? Even so, most people are unwilling to mess with the $150-$200 vented headlight cover into cold air box with cone filter.

Quoted, also, for truth. Seriously, the n/as were a reasonably fast car for their time. They still handle better than and are lighter than 90% of what's on the road. Plus, there's SO much less to worry about with an n/a. It's just too bad someone hasn't taken advantage of the massive amounts of interest in turboing n/as since before the TII model came to the U.S.. I'm thinking that someone who could construct and sell en masse an effectively bolt-on turbo kit for the N/A would pretty much have money thrown at them (albeit only by a small percentage of the n/a FC population, because we're cheap.)

For the S4? I've dreamed about that. It doesn't seem like it'd be too hard to make a good-looking S4 front lip, but instead, we're damned to look for how to install "S13 Zenki" front lips, or buy the ONLY lip I can find, I believe made by corksport, that just comes STRAIGHT down, and doesn't really add anything to the look of the car.

 

See that right there is what everyone is talking about. If you didn't already know corksport makes a fine front lip. If you want something even more cheaper, i'm afraid your going to have to go to home depot.

I really don't know whats up with all the criticism. If this guy wants to make parts for us, let him. Don't diss it, he hasn't even made it yet. Who knows, he may create an intake that is so efficient its out of this world.

 

Realistically, he's not gonna gain anybody more than maybe 10 HP and a good bit of throttle response. If he can make something that actually shows those gains at what people deem a reasonable price, then good for him.

As for the CS front lip... well, do you really think this is all that attractive?

An "intake kit" is a retarded idea. Why? Because the words are empty...

There is nothing wrong with the stock, fat-*** intake elbow/pipe... So yeah, if you just replaced that with something else (that would probably heat-soak worse) and then bolted an ebay filter/adapter onto the end of your AFM in the stock location, you would have succeeded in creating an "intake kit" that increases intake temps, and produces less power.

The best way to feasibly get a colder/denser intake charge is to cut a hole below the stock air-box, route some piping down it, and put a filter right behind your brake-duct. Sadly, this would no longer be "bolt-on", but would require some work for the buyer.

Problem is, there's no reason for you to create such a product. Anyone with a hack-saw, a drill and basic tools can cut up a prelude intake pipe, cut a hole in the sheet-metal below the stock air-box location, and rig up a cold-air system. Costs $40 and takes less than two hours.

Either way, we appreciate the idea, it's just been a n00b topic for ever. n00b joins the forum, has a spark of brilliance for an "intake kit", and then gets shot down by non-n00bs. It's a cycle that will last as long as these cars are on the road.

 

You know, the OP never said what kind of shop he had, did he? are we talking metal work? Plastics? Composites? I got Ideas, but I'm not gonna spit out carbon fiber whosamacalit when all you have is a sheet metal brake and a welder.

Its actually a race shop bassed around drifting and road racing right now I have been toying with the intake idea (Thats why I stated gaugeing interest.) I have a buddy that works with CF so If you have some Ideas spit them at me. and eriksseven im not a noob but thank you for your useless and half retarded critique. I have been toying with the idea of a ITB setup but its proving harder than originaly planned so I am still working to that end and I have also been toying with a Turbo kit for the N/A's im just trying to make everything bolt on for ease and because not everybody has the mechanical ability that it takes for it to be a custom job. I am thinking that I can run the oil lines off the front plate and with a good crush washer I could have this figured out. I am sorry this took so long to reply I have been busy with school and work and usually only get on long enough to answer PM's and check on the for sale and drifting threads.
