gauge priorities
i am looking to get a new gauge this week. i want to either get a water temp gauge to replace the factory unit or an EGT gauge. which should i get first?

Water temp, most definitely.
EGT is useful for watching ignition timing issues and general tuning, but in a mostly stock car, that should never be an issue.
Water temp, OTOH, can get out of hand if your rad cap goes south, your t-stat goes, you lose a rad hose and (somehow) don't notice, your fan clutch dies, etc, etc. Many more possibilities, many more probabilities. Add to that the fact that the stock gauge is good for absolutely nada, and the choice is pretty clear

Haven't we ALL heard this
Oil temp and pressure man. That is a great combo to have. I heard some where that 30% of the engines cooling comes from the oil.
I tend to believe it after seeing that oil cooler. It is rather.....large.
