gauge placement idea help

first off - if this is the wrong section sorry..not sure what this really falls under.

Anyway in my S5 I am missing the center airvent above the hvac/radio and I was thinking of putting a couple gauges there. What material would you reccomend I use to hold the gauge and cover up the vent? Or do you think this is bad a idea? I don't plan on using the a/c since it doesn't blow cold air anyway..planning on removing it actually.

I tried searching but couldn't think of the right stuff to search for haha

Thanks

That vent is also for the heat...dunno if you need that or not.
At any rate, I don't like that location for any gauge you need to monitor anyway.
It's be OK for a slow moving gauge like fuel level or maybe a voltmeter.

I got this from eBay a while back has little spaces so can still use the heater I imagine you could make something similar to it.
