Gauge cluster on the fritz...

Ok so my gauge cluster is seriously not right... My speedometer works fine but everything else completely stopped working. And the rpm gauge wont go past 2k and every once in a while makes the weirdest noise! It's sounds like when u get a fax line when your trying to call someone on the phone! I'm stumped. The connection for the cluster is good and tight.

Sounds like wiring issues. The connectors are probably oxidized. The sound is most likely the rev buzzer going off.

The speedo works because its entirely mechanical

I was going to suggest checking the METER fuse but this bit confuses me.
Is the tach active or not?

I'm sorry I know I wasn't very specific. The tachometer is the only thing that works but does not work correctly on Idle it shows 300 RPM and the highest it goes is 2000.

I've checked the connections and they are all sound. And my rev buzzer never did work as long as I owned it... Interesting...

So, have you actually checked the METER fuse?
It's pointless for us to keep guessing till this obvious first step has been taken.

Honestly I'm not sure where that is. My fuse box has no cover. But if the fuse was blown then the rpm gauge wouldn't work at all right? It doesn't show a true rpm reading and everything else is zero'd out... Besides the mechanical speedo...
