gasket sealant on intake
Yeah.. I heard somewhere that you're not supposed to use certain gasket sealants on certain applications--namely intake.. I'm going to gasket the following, and I want to know what I should use:
*Lower intake to block
*Upper intake to lower
*Dynamic chamber to upper intake
*EGR blockoff
*BAC blockoff
*ACV blockoff

I just use blue silicone for all of that stuff. It works well. If you're worried about messing up your sensors then just make sure it's sensor safe. If you're worried about heat you can give copper silicone a try.

If the surfaces are clean and not gouged....avoid using any sealant whatsoever. Won't leak. If say you throw away the gasket for the front cover ala Mazdatrix, I put a smear of vaseline on the housing surface and apply the RTV to the cover so that when its removed the RTV will stick to the cover, not the housing. Easier to clean up. Sealant is for mucked up surfaces. Prejudiced in texas against sealant manufactures and high priced gasket makers. Put sealant on and when you take that item off in the future, all you have is a mess and the expense of another gasket.
