In general STP and such stuff is neither necessary nor helpful. Try a good quality gas brand to maintain the fuel system (www.toptiergas.com). Those already contain all the special additives you need. If you have a problem, then you can start using special chemicals or replacing/cleaning specific parts. But even if STP does work, it is likely to be too mild to fix significant problems.

Lucas. Only other brand besides Seafoam to use. I used the big bottle that treats 100 gallons with about 1/4 to 1/8 of a tank. Worked real well

It's all snake oil. If it was so good, then it would already be included in the stock additive blend found in every gasoline.

ok i typed in seafoam on search and a lot of stuff came up. i read that you could put it in the gas tank and in a hose that goes to some pump.
which one is better?

and for how long does it stay smoking?

nothing is a dumb question. at least you were smart enough to think about the possible negative outcome and ask for help instead of just doing it and screwing stuff up. Ive used the "gumout" brand a few times. cant tell you if it worked or not. im running a bottle of seafoam through right now.

i also had a similar question, i buy the lucas oil gas treatmeant for all my other cars, but i run straight premix on my FC. so my question is this:
can the gas treatments have a negative effect on premix??? since they are supposed to help "clean" things out...
