Unhappy Gas tank leak

Ok so the garage tells me my tank is leaking and has been since i got the car. It will cost about 500 bucks for them to remove it and send it to get rebuilt. They dont have replacement tanks for me.

two questions

is this dangerious? like PD dangerous? can i drive it for a weeek or so?

and whats the common procedure, the garage said they wont install a used one if i find one, cause they dont guarentee it. Do i have to bite the bullet and pay 500 bucks to fix this? that will hurt me as i was going to spend that money on fixing my broken stabalizer linkages.

cheers

Do you not have the tools to drop it yourself and install a used one? You could probably get one for really cheap at a junk yard, but be sure to inspect it.
