I may be wrong...but from what it sounds like, he doesnt want the pedal "tighter", he wants it "stiffer". In other words, it sounds like there is no play in his pedal, just that it goes down to easily, and he wants to have to push it harder to accelerate. I this case, changing what 1987Rx7 guy said will not help this. The adjustment that he is talking about basically takes the play out of the pedal, so that as soon as you start pressing the pedal, you get gas, instead of having to press the pedal quite a bit to get gas.
From what it sounds like to me, you just want your pedal stiffer. I know what you mean. Ive been driving a friends 92 Cavalier (dont hate!) while my 92 Accord (again, dont hate!) is down. The Accord pedal is MUCH easier to press (no play in pedal) than the Cavalier is.
I would think that the adjustment, if there is one, would need to be made at the pedal. It's like the spring on the pedal has weakened.
Am I correct in my assumption, or ARE you talking about getting rid of "play" in the pedal?

I kindof thought so.
Im really unsure if there is any way to adjust that. Id actually have to get in there and look. Mine is very easy to push also, but never really got down there to look at it. Maybe, if there is a spring that can be replaced with a newer or stiffer spring, then that would fix it right up. Or, if there is a way for you to tighten that spring yourself, like wrapping it around one more rotation? Not sure. Just throwing things out.

Yeah...a tighter spring there would work. Maybe yours is just sprung. You could try getting one from a junkyard and seeing if there is a difference. Very cheap shot in the dark. They shouldnt charge you much for it.
