gas pedal stiffness ~ throttle plates?

I'm pretty sure most people on this forum are familiar with gas pedals on FC's being stiff when the secondary throttle plate is engaged.

Personaly I'm not sure what that actualy means, or how it works, but somebody told me that to fix it you gotta clean the secondary throttle plate. Again, I don't know how to do this either. Any help here would be hot.

I know exactly what you're talking about. I had the same problem of a rediculously stiff gas pedal, and everyone told me to keep checking the throttle cable, but it turns out it was just really dirty throttle plates.

Clean it out real good and it should be ok.

I have some instructions on my website for taking out your injectors. You can stop early on in the instructions because you will have the TB off. First unhook the cable and make sure it is not the cable that is sticking. If it is not, then you will have to clean it out like evil said.

The pedal gets a bit stiffer when the secondary throttles open because you're now pushing against a second throttle return spring. It's perfectly normal.

If there is excessive carbon build-up on the throttle plates or bores this may cause the secondary throttles to stick closed, and require a bit more effort to "pop" them open. You should be able to feel this easily by operating the TB directly by hand. Removal and cleaning on the TB should fix this.

Do not use WD40 or similar, as they leave a residue that attracts dirt. The TB is designed to operate dry and doesn't need to be lubricated. Only use carb cleaner, which evaporates completely.

Lubricant.

You can also use graphite spray as a lubricant. I did this just to see the difference and I haven't gotten any dirt buildup in close to a year.

I used white lithium grease...which didn't seem to help.

Then I sprayed some PB Blaster on there...and now it's working fine
