gas in oil - what do I do???
excessive fuel in oil and no compression
I like to bring this threat back to life with a related question about my rebuild. I can't crank start the engine but it runs fine after I pull start her. At cranking the plugs are covered with oil and some gas. My compression is only 25 to 30 PSI on all 6 chambers. I have heavy gas fumes coming out of the oil filler neck when she runs. Does anyone know what could cause this before I tear the engine down again? It has about 40 miles and about 2-3 hours of total running time on it?

25-30 PSI on the chambers either is a severely flooded engine, or something pretty wrong internally. If you're getting that low of compression and gas fumes coming out the oil filler neck, I'd suspect something like missing side seals or... well, I have no idea exactly what could cause that and still let the engine run. I'd pull it apart.

Hello im 18 the names Brian and i am new to the rotary engine and just had my 13b n/a rebuilt. Yesterday i got it running finally and drove it about 45 miles and started lossing oil pressure. I drove it home dumped the oil and found it to be extremly thin /gas was in it. i changed the oil 3 times and cant get anything over 30 psi and sometimes its lower... When i first started driving i had healthy oil pressure of 60 psi. Anyone have any ideas i put alot of money into this thing and hope that i dont have to get a used v8 and stick in there bc i love the car.
1. check it with a mechanical guage and make sure your stock guage or sending unit isnt just wrong. you can get a relatively accurate guage at advance or walmart for like 10 bucks. the 1/8 npt fitting will thread right into the stock oil pressure sending unit hole.
what weight of oil are you using?
if it really is making low pressure, it is possible that the builder missed the front cover o-ring, which will vent off most of your oil pressure into the front cover. this is something you can fix fairly simply, so thats what i'd check first.

it is the nature of these engines that some blowby will occur. this might be especially more so on engines that have not fully broken in yet, or just from wear of the seals/metal surfaces. putting a lot more premix than is needed in your gas can also cause more blowby.
i don't think blowby is really something to worry about, and if it gets really bad (i.e your oil level actually increases because of it) you probably have bigger things to worry about than some gas getting into oil.

As PAT said. If your motor flooded they will get gas in the oil. This is why it is said to change your oil immediatly after your car gets flooded.

I mentioned that the dillution was close to 5w30. I sent it off to a lab. Can't remember which one, but it was in a kit that cost like 5 bucks. I did my own research as far as the numbers went and came to the rough oil weight conclusion.
I'm having the same problem with my n/a '87 RX. It's also raising the oil level. It smokes, but not all the time, just sporadically. Also idle bounces between 700-1500 RPM steadily. It's got me baffled. Let me know if you find the culprit and I'll do the same.
