That MPG actually isn't out of line for around the town driving. Also, echo suggestion using the search function first before posting any questions. With only 32 posts, obviously a rookie mistake.

 

Many things can cause your gas mileage to suffer. You probably should look at the most obvious things if you haven't already done that: spark plugs, plug wires, air filter. After that, there are lots of less obvious things like a dragging brake caliper, bad O2 sensor, clogged catalytic converter, etc., etc. Without more information about the current condition of your car, it will be hard for anyone to diagnose it over the forum. Also, 15 mpg is not astonishingly bad for an NA if you're talking 100% stop-and-go city driving, though it probably is a little low. What were you getting before?

 

I get about 15mpg on my NA S4 myself. Were you getting better, and then it suddenly went down to 15?

 

Typical gas mileage is in the FAQ: 17 city / 25 freeway. Super low speed city driving and short trips can make it worse. I remember driving 25 mph on the bay area streets with frequent stops. Got 11 mpg. Went back home and it got better.

It's probably not a major cause if you lost 2 mpg. Check all the little maintenance things mentioned, or maybe even just driving style or driving conditions. Heck, there could be more traffic lately or maybe the weather changed.

 

I have been getting a solid 20 mpg in my '86 Sport. I do remember getting 15 to 17 mpg, before when I had a previous exhaust system in the car, it had a major exhaust leak and clogged cat.

This is just a suggestion seeing as you didn't really give a description of what you have done to the car.

Oh yeah, make sure you are calculating your MPG correctly too.
