Question Gas cap MIA

so my car started running like **** the other morning, i checked all of the obvious things that it might be and didnt really find anything odd. it seems to hesitate real bad and idle's real rough. then last night i went to go put gas in and found that my gas cap was missing.. could this maybe be caused by that? i have a parts car at a buddies that has a cap on it that i am going to get later today. just curious as to if that might have an effect on drivability of the car?

I drove mine for about 3 days with no issues until I finally had time to go to pick and pull and score another one.
