Funky Idle issue...
Funky Idle issue...
Alright so when I start up my 87 TII it is fine it idles at like 1200 but ill deal with that. If I drive the car for a while it still has that solid idle at about 1200. The problem is when I have driven my car for like 20 minutes and it gets warm the car starts to idle a little funky... it drops to 600 and bounces a little between 500-700. I have no Idea what could be doing this I adjusted the tps and everything and I am still not sure. I am assuming it isnt a vac leak otherwise it would do it right away. Anyone have any ideas? If I cant get this figured out I am going to sell it.

Get a copy of the factory service manual and do a systematic troubleshooting routine as outlined in the manual. Solving idle problems can require testing several components, not just the TPS, and cleaning or replacing them. You can also do a search of the forum since there are tons of threads dealing with this very common problem.
yea most of them are usually the car idles hard when cold then gets better as it warms up i havent found many situations with the same idling issue where it gets worse as it warms up. I have the factory manual like a real full copy. I will take a look and try to do each thing step by step but does anyone have any quick ideas i could give a shot?
oh
Hey i have a 1991 n/a that does the same thing, and my old 88 convertible n/a also did that i solved in on the 88 by adjusting the idle control just past the throttle and disconecting the [plugs that conected to my 6port. But do you any an intake upgrade on your t2. From personal experience any time you change any thing with air flow in a rotary the cars idle will change and you have to look for some balance, Hooking up an SAFC2 insnt bad either i just put one in my 90 along with some t2 injectors, i also wonder if that means ill need t2 coils and spark plugs. But my idle has improved but not gone.

try adjusting the idle mixture screw...warm it up and then bring it home and leave it idling...on the passenger side near the pressure sensor...there is a little screw inside a hole...turn it one way...then the other...see if you can smooth it out....

this is the best picture of it i can find...look where the orange vac line goes off the left of the picture...just above the AFM...well just about right there...if you look from above...you will see a flathead screw. thats your idle adjust screw...ADJUST IT.
