To remedy this and help you become a more educated customer and purchase the exhaust system that suits your needs best, we've created this simple diagram which we hope will help you visual what components of the exhaust each product addresses.

Starting at the top, we have the Exhaust Manifold which is bolted directly to the engine. For street driven cars, we leave the stock manifold in place to because it helps reduce the noise. It is also a very durable unit that hardly ever needs to be replaced. The Bönez Street and Race systems will bolt directly to this manifold. There are other manufactures that make headers which remove the stock exhaust manifold but these systems aren't compatible with the Bönez units because they extend well beyond the exhaust manifold.

The next item down is what we call the Pre Catalytic Converter or just "Pre-Cat". This is the first piece of the exhaust system that gets the full blast of the hot rotary exhaust. After the Pre-cats we have the large Main Cat which does the majority of the emissions work. The Pre-Cat and Main Cat are the a major restriction in the exhaust system and are typically clogged and/or failing on most cars over 100K miles, though some have been found to fail earlier.

The Bönez units we offer, both Race and Street models, will replace all these catalytic converters (Pre and Main) and bolt directly to the stock Exhaust Manifold and the stock (or aftermarket) Cat-Back system. So by using our diagram, the Bönez systems will replace the Red and Orange sections of the exhaust unless the system is noted to be a "Main Cat Only" replacement. The Bönez Main Cat Only replacements in both Street and Race models replace just the Main Cat, or Orange section, and leave the Pre-Cats (red) intact.

The last item in our exhaust system is what's known as the Cat-Back system, meaning everything after the Catalytic Converters. This includes a piece known as the "Y-Pipe" which splits the exhaust into two pipes which then connects to two mufflers. All of the Cat-Back systems we offer include both the y-pipe and two mufflers. Upgrading this section is a very popular upgrade way to change the looks and sound of the exhaust system as well as offering an increase in performance.
