Angry Fuel System Pressure Relief

I've gone and done something stupid. I'm in the process removing my engine, and didn't realize that the process for depressurizing the fuel system is to run the car with the fuel pump disconnected until it stalls. This is going to be a problem as a significant amount of what belongs in my engine bay is in my trunk. Is there another way to accomplish this? Such as opening the pressure regulater somehow? I really know next to nothing about the fuel systems on our cars. Any help would be appreciated. Oh, one more question: IIRC, the fuel pump has a fuse associated with it. Instead of tearing up my carpet to find the connector, wouldn't it be just as effective to remove the fuse?

I can live with that, if theres no other option. Do I have to disconnect the fuel pump if I do that? As I said, my trunk is full of stuff from the engine bay, and it's gonna be a pain in the *** to pull the carpet up.

Pulling the fuse is easier, yup.

And drape a rag over wherever you yank the line to keep the spray from covering everything around it.
