i installed a 3rd gen fuel pump in my friends fc t2 when you turn the key on you would hear the pump come on ....now it wont start i dont hear the sound anymore i tested with the key on the blue wire to the connector to the pump there was no voltage the red and white lit up my tester ...any ideas..thanks..ps before it was a gxl then we put in jspec

Turn the key to Start and hold it there while looking at the BLUE wire on the series four fuel pump connector. The Blue wire on the rear harness side of the fuel pump plug. The Blue wire that mates with the black/white wire on the fuel pump pigtail harness..
The other wires are for fuel level etc. Not pump related.

Engine fuse powers the Main Relay and the circuit opening relay.
The circuit opening relay when energized, powers the fuel pump.
The circuit opening relay has two coils, either of which can pull the circuit opening relay in.
Holding the key to Start powers one coil and that pulls the circuit opening relay in.
The other coil of the circuit opening relay pulls the relay in, when the afm of a series four, moves aft and puts a ground on that particular coil. When you jumper the fuel pump check connector, you are doing the same thing, putting a ground on one of the coils in the circuit opening relay and causing the pump to run.
Gotta hace a good ENGINE fuse in the interior for either coil in the circuit opening relay for it to power the fuel pump.
Either the ENGINE fuse is bad, OR the ground wire at the pump isn't connected up. ON a series four car it's a black wire. Blue wire is power. Talking colors on the rear harness side of the series four fuel pump plug.
