fuel pump switch writeup

i dont know if there is a writeup already, but i thought i would write one up. Having a switch wired into the fuelpump makes unflooding extremely easy. if its flooded when u go to start it just flip the switch so it doesnt pump fuel and after about 2-5 seconds just flip it back and the car should start fine. i have found this to be ALOT easier than getting out and cranking it over for 30 seconds, and then getting back in. (which can make your car look like a POS in public). its easy to do, and all u need is a switch from autozone or something.

Look up under your dash above the pedals. find the yellow box that plugs into another connector. it has 5 wires in it, and the wires going into it look like the picture attached. the middle one, with no wire in the box above it, is the fuel pump wire. just cut it where you can put connectors on it, and run a wire from each end to a switch. connect the wires to the "load" and "positive" on the switch. mount the switch where you want it and your done. i duno any negative effects if this has any, so do it at your own risk. nothings blown up on me with one for about a year now, and my friend also has one.

does
I dotn know the way off hand but I think I read in another thread you can set it up so that the light turns on when the pump is on
--assuming you get one with power/load/ground and for some reason want a light the whole time you drive your car...

It's been done before, but usually by directly splicing at the fuel pump, so I guess congratulations on finding another place to splice it in.

Many people avoid fuel pump cutoff switches because they fix the symptoms, not the disease that causes the flooding. (Usually leaky injectors, by the way.)

for some reason my switch is lit up when the pump is OFF. i just have mine for the occasional flooding (which has only happened once since i got new injectors). but i mean if you are going to be unflooding it alot, why not wire in a switch?if u arent going to fix the problem and just do it with the fuses, might as well do this...
