fuel pump resistor realay.

well

im doing a t2 conversion, and i foun that my n/a does not have a fuel pump resistor realay.

and there is nowhere to plug it in on my car.

do i need this to make my conversion work?

waiting for some moders to chime inn on that one!

thanx

well, bump.

someone, please, reply.

i dont care if you know what the hell im talking about. Chime in people!

do i really need the fuel pump resistor relay to make my t2 conversion work? i know i know.. "do a search". no need. i know it doesnt say anything about the part in question in the write-ups, and so one would suspect that it is not needed.

further more, what the hell is the function of the part in question and what is the difference between it and the N/A counter part.

once again, if you dont have an answer for my question lets atleast discuss this obscure part and its functions.

if nothing more than to better understand the animal that is the FC3S.

pardon the essoterics (spelling?) it is 2:30 in the morning...time to make Zeez

I can only assume your talking about the resistor relay thats located under the airbox of a stock TII.

This is installed as a fuel saving device in the TII only, and you will NOT require it to run your TII conversion in your N/A. (If you want my opinion, your better off without it).

Matter of fact, you should just consider a rewire.

Rat

(edit)

Since you want the specifics on it... IT drops the voltage to the fuel pump during low load conditions to help save gas (or load on the pump, you decide).

Totally worthless......

a rewire? elaborate...

yeah it was under the air box, thanx for the info. what would i have to rewire?

oh yeah one more thing, where the hell is the knock sensor on the engine? i dont ever remember removing one or unpluging one for that matter.

You don't need it to work, but I would recommend wiring it in (Get the FSM and see how it's wired and do your own custom rewire)

The relay lets the fuel pump see normal voltage when the engine is under a higher load (forgot the conditions but it's something like >3500 rpm and 3 psi of boost). All other conditions it gives 9V to the fuel pump, reducing fuel pump pressure.

Before I wired it into my swap, I was getting 15 MPG hwy, now I get 18 MPG city/Hwy

On the S4 engine, the Knock Sensor is under the oil filler tube. On the S5 its located above the spark plugs.
