so the fuel pump worked fine before i took the engine out and put another one in. now that i have the other one in i can only get the fuel pump to come on when jumping the test connecter. i do have the fuel pump pluged in from near the rear speaker in the hatch i had disconnected it to depressureize the fuel system. the fuel pump relay clicks so i dont know that it could be.

 

It only runs if the key is HELD to START or the engine is running (not counting the jumper job).

Prove the above. Shove the afm vane aft a quarter inch or more with the key to ON. Pump will run.

Reach under the car and pull the small, blade connector off the starter solenoid. Turn the key to START. Fuel pump will run.

 

thanks i didnt know that. ill hold the key to start and have someone listen at the fuel tank to see if its running. good to know.
