Fuel Pump Problem?
1987 mazda rx-7 turbo car. i'm getting fuel through the lines and to the fuel rails. all of my plugs going to the fuel injectors are getting the right voltage and they are pulsing correctly, but for some reason i am getting no fuel into the motor. i can crank the car for days, pull the plugs out and there is no sign of fuel or amy smell of fuel. the car will run on strait starting fluid at this point, so i know theres no timing issue. is it possible that the fuel pump is not making enough pressure or something? can it flow fuel but not pressure? the only thing i have not done is put a guage on the fuel rail and see exactly what kind of pressure is there. i don't have a guage and was hoping someone would know what i am talking about--jeremie

yeah they were sitting for a long time. 3 years that i can remmember. you think they are just gummed up? can i send some carb cleaner through them?

You can try- I've cleaned mine a little with some acetone (with a flow setup I rigged up). Get a good solvent in the injector & shake it around a bit, then turn it upside down & dump it. You'll see some nasty brown crap coming out of there if it's dirty...
When you send them off to be cleaned, the vendor uses solvent also, but usually with an ultrasonic cleaner, which probably works a bit better than the "shake" method. That and you get the nifty flow rates and such...

Banned. I got OWNED!!!
I used Cruzin Performance to get mine cleaned as was happy with them. Total of like $50 including shipping. I got all new rubber pieces (orings etc.) which would of cost me $8 per set at Autozone anyways. So good deal.

Your description of your problem has ALL the earmarks of someone who has inadvertently put the fuel hoses on backwards.
Do this: disconnect the rear hose on the left side of the engine. Put a hose on the pipe from the engine and the other end of the hose into a container. Turn the key to START and see if fuel comes out and goes into the container. Instead of going to start, you might want to just go to ON and put a jumper in the Fuel Pump Check Connector and look for the same results.
This crossing of fuel lines happens more often on cars that have a JSPEC engine installed during a swap. The Jspec fuel lines are opposite of USA engines.
It takes but thirty minutes to find out where the problem lies.
