fuel pump help

I seem to be having a problem with my fuel pump on my 87 t2. So I was trying to clean out the fuel system. I changed the fuel filter and decided to try and clean out what was left in the lines. So I took that line that goes to the bottom of the fuel filter and put it in a container, and I turned the engine over a few times. But I noticed that I wasn’t getting any fuel in the container. So then I tried to jump that yellow plug on the passenger side.. it’s my understanding that the fuel pump should run while this is jumped when I turn the key over correct? Well when I do this I get in the car and put the key in and hear the pump making noise for 3-5 seconds and it stops, but still nothing is being pumped through the lines. Do I have a bad pump? Or is it something else?

thanks

With the key to ON, and the yellow two socket fuel pump check connector jumpered, the pump should run all the time.

Try putting the key to On and shoving the vane in the afm aft at least a quarter inch. Pump should run as long as the vane is pushed aft. It should run continuously.

Or remove the pressure line from the fuel filter. Remove the aft line on the pump so the filter won't be a player. Then try one or more of the above.

Or put the key to ON. Then find a piece of wire. Put one end of that wire to a known ground. The other end to the Black wire in the fuel pump check connector. Pump should run.

Or make sure there is fuel in the fuel tank.
