Angry fuel pump dead

Hey Every one

Well my RX-7 has not run in 3 years and we just put in a fresh engine and changed the gas to more up to date stuff then went to start it and nothing.
The car turns over has compresion and spark, so we checked the next obvious thing if the engine was getting fuel.
As it turns out the fuel pump is not even coming on, the fuel line is bone dry. I checked the plugs to see if someone might have uplugged itand they are fastened. So the next test will be to see if the ecu is sending the signal to the pump. Also we checked the relay (if it was the correct one) that is under the dash right next the steering column. Have any of you come across a problem like this and what the hell wire is it on the ecu. I have the 1989 in and out puts but are they the same as the 1990.

Thanks

Chris Y.

Yank the pump out and supply 12v to it. If it runs, which im sure it will, id guess its a problem with the wiring. They tend to go to ****, in fact rewiring the pump is a modification done by many. If the pump runs, I would say to re-wire it. Not that hard, buy some 12ga. wire, and a relay. I can explain it further if your pump works. Is it turbo or n/a?

We tried to supply 12v directly already , but through the plug on the left rear strut tower that goes to the pump. We had a voltmeter on that plug already and it showed no change in voltage on any wire so I would think that there might be a problem with the wiring between the ecu and the plug. I'll pull the pump tonight and see if that the problem. I had planned on rewiring any ways, is there some place on the net were the instructions are.
Thanks for the help.

I cant remember if theres a place or not. The wiring may be shot, but as long as your getting some power from the power wire, you can use it to turn on your relay. Thats what I did. I ran 8 guage wire back to the pump, and then I used the pump's old power wire to switch the relay on. Im sure you could use and 12v ignition source. Hope this helps.
