Fuel Pump Cut Out Switch
I've been looking for a long time on how exactly to do this. I've ran search after search. I PMed a member, and haven't gotten any real information yet.
Basically, I have a switch with two plugs on the back. I soldered wires to each, and I was going to do it like this.
Cut the wire under the dash
Connect one end to one switch's plug
connect other end to other plug
mount switch
i saw somewhere else that they suggested running a wire back to the pump itself, and it didn't say what goes to the second terminal on the switch. So can anyone help?

and once again, that doesn't answer my question. I've posted a few times saying I was gonna do it different than the instructions there. However, I wasn't sure if it would work right. I keep asking if it will work the way I wanted to set it up, yet I keep getting answers of "Put a switch in" or a reference to the thread I already posted in and got no real answer. So instead, I'm going to connect it the way I assume will work, and if it works, fine, if not, that's cool too

I guess I didn't understand why you would run a wire back to the pump. I mean are you rewiring your pump? The switch needs 2 wires, the switch is just a break in the wire basically. So even if you rewire it, just put the switch somewhere in the middle of the wire.

exactly why do you want a cut out switch. is it becuase your car is flooding.....If so then that's a sorry excuse for a fix on your problem. Honestly. i wouldn't recommend it. Some tuners sell a resistor that cuts lowers voltage to your pump on shut off and during starts, to help prevent flooding. I have one that i didn't use, and i'm going to take it apart and make one myself, somewhat cheaper. Under $40.

yeah, I agree it's a sad way to fix it, but it's also sad that these cars have so many problems. I'm tired of it flooding, and I don't have time to track down the real problem. There's alot of theories on what's going wrong, and I believe hailers is looking into part of the ECU to see if that's malfuctioning (might be someone else). I remember reading about the part that delays fuel delivery during hot starts, but I don't want to rip into my computer and end up breaking something. also, my injectors were new just over a year ago and this problem's been going on for a few months, so they weren't even a year old when it started. I just want to be able to shut it off, get gas, buy something, or whatever, and be able to start it when I get back in it, so this seems like the way to fix it now.
