Fuel Pulsation Dampers

I read the archived thread about pulsation dampers, and I saw that a lot of you guys replaced the dampers with banjo bolts. It's been a few years since that thread, and I just wanted to know how that's worked for you.

Also, i saw a few guys just use a hose to route the fuel to outside the engine bay for when the damper breaks. Has it broken yet? Did the hose work?

Just wondering, because a lot of those "My Car Burst into Flame" stories were with '87 Turbo II's..which I have. I'd like to keep my car uncooked.

go with the s5 fuel rails, those don't have the same style PDs.

S5 dampers can fail just like the S4's. Why would you want to rig up a temporary fix on something that could very well cause your car to burn to the ground? Get a new FPD or banjo bolt and fix the problem right. There is too much misleading information on this forum, go here for the truth-> http://www.fc3spro.com/TECH/FAQ/pd.html

Those are still prone to failure, just not as often.

You could go banjo bolt, or you could do the Parallel fuel mod and run an Aftermarket FPR. ITs all in how much you would like to spend, and how much work you want to do.

Some people will argue against the Banjo bolt mod, but whats the hand off? Uneven fuel delivery versus a burned down car? I think the answer is obvious.

Is there a mileage rating on how often you are supposed to replace the pulsation damper?

There is not a factory recommendation for dampener replacement, however I recommend every 10 years or 100K miles (which ever comes first).

This is a back shot, but you can see the AN fittings. After I get a bit more, I wil take a better shot.

Look at this thread to get ideas.

YearsOfDecay has a pretty good pic in that thread. Although it looks like his isn't a parallel setup.

But be aware, if you plan to go all stainless braided lines and AN fittings, things can get pricey fast. Here's some parts I was looking at getting. This doesn't include the pressure gauge but does include a new fuel filter.

About $370?

No, I had it sand blasted at Rotaryshack.com. I bought a Hybrid Turbo from Robert, and he blasted it for me. I would like to get it ceramic coated though.

My pulsation dampener failed at less then 50K miles on itacording to the first owner, who kept great records . Failed again on me at about 150k. interesting that it did last about 100k the second time around.

So how did you guys attach your ss hoses to the fuel tank? Did you use the stock metal fuel lines? If so how did you convert the 5/16" (I think) metal tube to AN? Ive been wanting to do some upgrading of my fuel system but I cant figure out how to go from the tube to the SS hose. I saw that earls has an adapter that will do it, but it is listed for no more then 25 psi.
