Fuel presure?

Well recently my friend got a 86 RX7 that has a 90 T2 motor for $3000. well the car is having a problem idling and when you floor it it just shacks around a makes no power. We have been told that it might be the fuel pump, so we took a buddy's fuel pump off his NA( yes i know not a good idea but a speciality shop said it was ok)well the car started then died because it ran out of gas. the question is that what is the fuel presure difference between a NA and a T2?

well i dunno if this is the exact answer you are looking for, but the fuel pressure regulator is the same for both, at 35.6-37.0 PSI, so if the fuel pressure is regulated proportionately, wouldnt the pressure also be alike?

The FPR is not the same, but the static fuel pressure is. An NA pump won't provide the same pressure when used on a Turbo (i.e. not enough).

The car should have run with the n/a pump just as well as with a good turbo pump.

Don't anybody have a heart attack.

What is meant, is if you put the na pump in there, the engine should have idled just fine IF the original problem was a pump problem. You should have been able to drive around the hood and as long as you didn't boost the engine at wide open throttle all should have been well.

You've proven the pump is NOT your problem, so reinstall the original pump as keep trouble shooting.

A na pump will supply enough pressure for just tooling around the hood is all I mean. Enough pressure to assure you that the REAL problem is NOT a bad pump.

I mean, we're talking sitting in the garage and stepping on the throttle if I read the first post right. Just shakes and makes no power???? Plugs in the right places???? Injector clips on the right injectors????? That's what it sounds like to me. We won't get into the possibility of a bad apex seal. LIke running on one rotor would cause shaking at idle and no pwr.
