WI fuel injector swap

I have an 87 turbo that was built in march of 86 so it is a very early car, I bought some fuel injectors from a company that sells rebuilt injectors and the injectors I got are for the late 87 model and not what they call the 86 turbo. I did not know there was a change in injectors in June of 86 or 87, all I know is that I have the late injectors and my car is the early style. Can these be made to fit? does anyone know what the difference is? do the late 87 injectors use a different resistor?
any help or info appreciated, thanks!

the change to s4.5 is about mid 1987
the s4 uses low ohm injectors matched to a ballast resister pack near the headlight
( drivers side jap and aus ,, other side US )
[ the ballast back is to reduce load and heat on the injector drivers ]

the s4.5 uses hi ohm injectors and no ballast pack

the s5 similarly uses high ohm injectors and no ballast

the trick to using high ohm injectors in the s4 early car is to bridge bypass the ballast pack

-- simple as ---

bumpstart, thanks for the reply, I am not sure I understand your drawing, I will have to pull out the ballast pack and see if I can figure it out. Do you have a phone number?

i am in perth , land of oz ,, the good spot that oprah aint at

- don't ring me,, as you will be ringing me yesterday
and thus creating a warp in the space time continuum
- plus i will be asleep

find the ballast resister and remove it , bridge the in to the out wires so that the new injectors see full current
that should be self explanatory
check your FSM for location of the ballast

First you should find out Which injectors the car was using, and what you Have now,OR intend to put on.
Are they the same impedance?...Take an OHM Meter and put it across the OLD injector and take a reading(Lo is about 2.7-3.4 ohms..and HI is bout 13-15 ohms).
LO impedance injectors use a Resistor pack on the Wiring harness. On a Left hand drive car the resistor pack is Under the Stock Air box, just in front of the Passenger Strut tower. It is a Small silver Packaged part with a 5 wire Connector on it.Big connector(white).
The Resistors pack is "wired" in Series with the injectors to Make the Injector Impedance "appear" to be HI..(The ECU's See HI impedance)
Now,IF the Injector Pack is NOT there,as the Wiring was changed in later models,(they just removed the Connector and ran straight through) the Injectors ON the engine will be HI impedance injectors.
You Cannot ..Cannot,Run a LO impedance Injector without a resistor..OR a Hi impedance Injector with a Wiring harness that has the Resistor Pack.( the ECU would then see about 23 ohms)..It would Just Confuse the Hell out of the ECU,and your Car would run Like Poop!
There are Part Numbers on the Injectors and The Info ON the injectors is in One of the "stickies" at the top of the Sec Gen Specific Section.(under the Frequently Asked questions).
If you are Not sure what you have,Take some PICS of the injectors, and post the numbers that you Have on the injectors, along with the ECU Part Number..and If possible a Pic of the wiring harness at the Front of the Car,near the strut tower(stock air box,to see IF the resistor pack is there).
Cheers STYX!~
...BumpStart!..I am so Glad I live in CANADA..Oprah hates COLD!..haha!..(on a Good note, she is Retiring this year,so she won't be bringing 300 people back to OZ next year!..hahahaha!)
