Fuel injector sizing and fuel management questions

Have a couple of questions regarding larger fuel injector size recommendations. This is for a non-running project car and I am in the planning stages. In fact the car has not ran for 10 years and I have put it aside until I had time and interest to invest in it. I have a rebuilt engine for a 1988 T2, engine is not yet installed though. I have a rewired Walbro fuel pump, MSD 6A, TID air intake, downpipe, no cat converter, single Apex N1 exhaust, TurboXS bov, removed OMP, EGR, airpump, ACV, etc... Added a S5 turbo since the rebuild and have cleaned and blueprinted stock injectors. I do not have any fuel controller right now, (hence the reason for the rebuild). I will be adding a stage 4 BNR turbo and FMIC. I will obviously need larger fuel injectors but what size? I looked at the fuel calculator on the rx7.com web site, and read many many threads before posting and looks like I would need at least 720-850 primaries and I guess 1600 secondaries. Would that be about right? As for fuel management, I assume a piggyback system would be marginally effective and a full standalone would be ideal. What would be most recommended? Haltech (E6X, E6K, ??), Microtech, etc?? I have been out of the whole scene for so long so any suggestions and comments gladly welcomed!

I don't know about the injector sizing. I've kind of wondered about that myself, but never looked into it too much.

However, EMS can range from a simple (read crappy) piggyback like an Apexi SAFC, to a re-chipped ecu from Rtek (various ranges in itself) to a full standalone that you can build yourself for around $400, a standalone that will require some engine bay re-wiring, all the way up to a full plug-and-play Apexi power FC (I think it only works w/ S5 though). Obviously, there's a middle ground somewhere, right? The cheaper solutions usually will end up in disappointment (IE the piggybacks). The super awesome plug and play one's going to cost some serious coin. So the happy medium that most people are content with is doing a little of the wiring work yourself, and save some money. I was content with building my own. Megasqurt makes a great kit with a ton of support. Haltech and others like it will cost a little more for being pre-made, but will require some engine bay wiring.

Does the motor have stock ports?

I loved the Haltech E6k in my TII, worlds better than any piggyback system I've been around.
I don't think the E-series Haltech's are still available, I know that Haltech is no longer servicing the E-series units. So unless there is a vendor who still has a few in stock, or you find a used unit I think you would have to go with their new "Platinum Series".

I don't know too much about the other EMSs out there.

Yes, I forgot to mention it has stock ports. I should have taken the time to port but didn't...

How much power are you trying to get out of it? What clutch are you running?

I think 550cc primaries and 720cc secondaries should work for low ~300s whp fairly well.

Injector dynamics 1000cc secondaries is what you want. Bolt right into stock rails, will provide enough for bnr stage 4. Generally those don't make more than 350rwhp. If you have the coin you can get the id2000s. We sell them in our store section, www.turblown.net/store

Forgot to mention that as well! I have an ACT pressure plate and disc. I believe, if I can remember it it the heavy duty pressure plate and the performance street disc. I had the lightened flywheel two but didn't find a difference so I sold it during the rebuild and put in a S5 flywheel that I had. I don't have any specific power goals, all I know is that I will be going with the BNR stage 4 turbo so I will do all the necessary supporting mods to get as much safely out of it as I can. I figure an optimistic goal would be about 350 RWHP, I would be more than happy with that
