Fuel injector cleaner?
I brought my car in for an oil change and the 'tech'/upsalesman told me I should get my injectors cleaned. I know the injectors are under the intake manifold so I was curious about how they would clean them. He said that they would just tap the fuel line and inject some cleaner into the fuel line while the engine was running. The service was $60...but how the heck is that different than me putting a $5 bottle of fuel injector cleaner in the gas tank?
Lastly, is putting fuel injector cleaner in the gas tank bad for rotary engines?
BTW: I didn't get my injectors cleaned
Thanks.

^^^thats where i sent mine to have them done, come to find out my worst injector flowed at 88% LOL.
ill tell you from an ASE certified tech and CA smog tech point of view.
after a certain milage mark, its sorta standard to upsell certain items. a fuel injection service takes 10 minutes and can pay up to an hour of labor. brakes, tires, suspension, fuel injection, tranny, power steering, brake fluid services.
easy to do, easy money, just the way the industry is.
seriously, all you need to do is pour some injector cleaner in a bottle, tap a vacuum line, run the engine at 2500rpm, run until the bottle is empty. you can pour injector cleaner in the gastank, thats an option too.
