sorry i've looked and searched through some threads but never got a definite answers.. i dont know if this is just basic knowledge and if you're suppose to know this by FSM (i looked at my online one but i couldnt find it either, can someone comfirm if its in there?) or whatever... but i'm extremely car illiterate and trying to learn more.. can someone tell me the location of both so i can change em today!

also tips on switching them or warnins would also help!

 

The fuel filter is located in the right back corner (drivers side) basically between the firewall and the frame rail.

Now if you need to change that you would might want to change your fuel pump pickup screen which is attached to your fuel pump in the tank. That you can get access to through the panel under your rear hatch carpet.

The thermostate is located right under the metal pipe that the upper radiator hose connects to.

You will need to stick something in the fuel line coming from the tank so it wont all drain on your face as you're changing it, also make sure you know how to bleed the coolant properly, you can search the site and it will tell you how.

 

ok, the hose on the bottom is a hard to take off lol .. also I still can't find that thermo stat.. ii know, don't kill me lol

Put pliers on the hose and twist it left and right and get ready for fuel to spill on you, you'll need a decent size screw drive to stop it afterwards.

Silicone hose and petroleum products don't mix. Just replace it with stock hose (Autozone, NAPA, etc.).

 

Yes, but make sure it's "high pressure" or "fuel injected" fuel line.
It's easy to see the difference...the high pressure hose has an extra liner in it (the Goodyear stuff I bought at Checkers has a blue liner)- looks like a hose in a hose actually.
When I replaced the filter and hoses I also replaced all the clamps with ones like this...
.
They come in size specific ranges and provide even clamping pressure without digging into the rubber hose. PepBoys sells em in packs of four for a few bucks.

 

Both items are easily found by looking in the contents page if the relevant chapter (Fuel System for the fuel filter and Cooling System for the thermostat). Both chapters also have parts location diagrams at the front that show you exactly where each part is. You should've had all the answers you needed in a few minutes. How hard did you really look...?

 

Buy the J30R9 fuel line.
