Question Fuel Filter and Gas Tank

Anyone know where the fuel filter might be on a 1987 RX-7 Turbo? How often should you check/change your fuel filter? And is it true that you should drain and clean your gas tank once a year? Thanks!

The fuel filter is in the engine bay under the brake master cylinder. It's easiest to get to from underneth.

om harsh climates (such as ones that see snow in winter and above 98% humidity in summer) it is always a good idea to drop and clean the gas tank every year.

In milder climates once every couple years is fine.

What do you mean by drop and clean the gas tank?
Thanks for clarifying.

I mean, you empty the tank out and clean all the old gunk that has been left over in the tank out.

Most of the time the easiest way to do that is to un bolt the tank so you can drop it out of the car.

Make sure its pretty empty before dropping it though. You'd be surprised what even a gallon of gas weighs.

Here is what happens when a car sits on an empty tank for ~1 year and a crappy *** Generic filter is used.

Why does everyone complain about where the fuel filter is? All you have to do is jack up the car and its right there?

Ok here is the pic

This is why I totally agree with Icemark on the yearly drain and clean. I would advocate rinsint the clean EMPTY tank with OSPH to convert any rust inside the tank
