Fuel Delivery Problems?

Alright, I have this problem more often than not when the engine is cold. I don't know what that is telling me, but that's how it is.

If I am cruising slowly around 2500 rpms or less, and at that spot on the pedal where you are giving it just a little bit more gas than it needs to stay the same speed, so it's accelerating a little, the car will studder. I don't mean like vibrations like when a clutch is going bad, I mean it's almost a bucking, it's like the gas isn't even going and it just bucks wildly. I can give it some gas and it'll correct it and stop doing it, and if i give it a lot of gas like bring it up to 6000 rpms or something it seems to go away and not come back. Now this leads me to believe that my injectors are just REALLY covered in gunk, and high revving or heating it up just makes it easier for them to open or function. Then this morning it changed, I was driving along and it was like the power just cranked down all of a sudden. It was like i had let off the gas a bit and it wasn't working as hard but I hadn't moved my foot on the pedal, this was in addition to the bucking that I was getting also. I have it more gas and it jumped back up real quick to where it's supposed to be.

I have been having a bit of what seems like transmission troubles lately too, goes into gear rouch, engages rough, lots and lots of vibration, etc.

Any ideas?

Classic symptoms of a TPS that needs adjusting (search for a how-to). It's not the injectors.

Mine had a similar problem as what your describing... ended up my problem was the TPS... make sure your TPS is adjusted correctly.

is this just in first..and maybe second gear?..it feels like the car is rocking forwards and backwards..repetitively?...i get that sometimes..i think its just that you are not travelling at the rate of speed that the computer adjusting response system(not the exact name) has determined to be your normal driving habits...i usually just shift out of gear..and glide for a bit before putting it back in gear..or i just stand on it...or just upshift..depending on when you need to make your next upshift...i think that the fc has a system that takes an average of your normal driving behavior and adjusts the ecu to deliver those type of driving patterns to the engine to decide if you are racing alot..or if your just putsing around alot...then the car drives that way to give better fuel economy....so if you dont rev out when you shift alot...then your throttle response feels different and delivers different info to the ecu...sokmething like that...

If you decide that it might be your tps.....do this. Pull the plug off the tps and go for a drive. If it does not do it anymore, maybe its the tps.

And, sorry, but the ECU isn't smart enough to adjust to different driving patterns of different individuals.

youre probly right i just thought that there was this type of system integrated into the fc...kind of like the porches and all the rest have developed since the early 90's to adapt to the driving habits of the car owner..which provides better fuel economy and performance...just thought i had read it was in mazdas agenda too..at that time..so never mind what i said previously..just scratch that earlier post....but it does work for me..with some similar symptoms..for whatever reason it may be..

good luck and i hope you get it fixed
