Fuel Cut switch causes syphon?? or is it a short?
Well... I installed a fuel cut switch to cut off the fuel pressure to my wonderful leaky sprayers. It worked like a charm the first 2 months. Now I have a small problem. About 1-3 times a week, when I shut the car off I shut off the fuel pump with the fuel cut switch and floor the car to depressurize the fuel system. What happens is, (it seems like anyway) gas is being syphoned through the gas lines and into the engine. the car bearly stays running but can still hold 4k rpm without the fuel pump on. Its extremely rough running and it feels like its just not getting much gas-- or intermitent. It feels like if you pull off the MAF and the car is stll able to run, just bearly and horridly.
So is it possible its a short in the fuel pump resistor relay? The ECU pulled the code for the resistor relay about 3 weeks ago. I reset the ECU and haven't seen the code again.
Any ideas? Could a leaky injector be so bad that it allows suction to the gas lines? I'd figure their would be a check valve in the line somwhere, but maybe not.

I should note that after it does this, it takes at least 5 minutes total crank time to get the car started, and when it does, its incredibly terrible. I have to floor it and it acts like their is a *HUGE* unmetered air vac leak. Bearly able to accelerate rpms. Having it floored takes about 15-20 seconds to reach redline, where I hold for a few seconds. I instantly let off and she holds a somewhat steady idle.

A while back I pulled the actual plug off the fuel pump with the car running. I kept it idling without the fuel pump for a couple of minutes. Remember that there is still some pressure in the fuel rail after the pump is turned off and the injectors are still a opening and shutting. They don't care if the pump is running or not. They open and shut off the input to the ECU from the cas (which is still turning). Make sense?
Even with a depled of pressure fuel rail, I've never had to crank for five minutes. Next time jumper the yellow Fuel Check Connector to prime the fuel rail, rather than crank for five minutes. Then again, it could be another thing.
