fuel cut relay or switch

Question fuel cut relay or switch

ok, i installed a lighted pushbutton on/off switch
3 connects: + gnd - , is this ok to use(under the column middle (black & white) wire, or should i use a relay??, i am worried it will mess with my fuel system.., its a 12v dc switch

The fact that it is lighted doesnt mean anything. Leave the ground unhooked and the light will not work, but the switch will. One terminal is power supply in(both for the lightbulb AND the application its gonna switch, in this case the fuelpump). One terminal is pwoer supply out(TO the fuel pump) and one terminal is ground(to complete the circuit for the lightbulb.

The 2 positive terminals need to be hooked to the 2 ends of the wire you cut on the relay, and the ground can be hooked up, or not.
You'll find that hooking the 2 positive terminals up one way will make the light stay on all the time, and hoking them up the other will make it work with teh switch(if its gounded that is). Either way will not affect the fuel pump.

What you should be worried about is the CURRENT rating - some number that has an "A" at the end.&nbsp If it's not at least 20A, I would NOT tap into the black/white wire (main power for relay) or the blue/red (turbo) or blue (NA) fuel pump leads.&nbsp These carry at least 10A of current, and will quickly blow a switch not rated up to par.&nbsp If you're using a low current switch, splice into the black wire, as this should be the low current ground for the relay itself.
