Fuel cut out? car dies when turning SHARP or drifting
I have an 88' N/A. Recently I've been having the 3800 RPM hesitation..which I found to be bad grounds with the car. Some how the problem fixed it self temp and i will eventually get to the grounds. Back to the problem at hand...Now that I can really get on the car and not be humiliated by cavaliers haha. When cornering sharp, dumping the clutch at a stand still, or going into any manuvuer that cause the car to be sideways such as drifting or donuts...the car basically cuts out...it doesnt die.just drops back down to IDLE VERY SUDDEN...even if my foot is to the floor. Now IMO I think its either the grounds still since i never did them...but could it be the fuel pump is shitting out on me? or is this a flaw with the way the fuel is picked up in these cars when it moves in the tank...or what...ANY input is appreciated esp ways to fix this problem. I basically blame fuel to be the reason.
Oh and previous to not knowing of the ground problem. I thought this too about the 3800 hesitation and i replaced the plugs, wires, fuel filter, and fuel regulator.

Running 89 through it will do nothing, higher octace gas is no cleaner than the cheap stuff (at least in Oregon it's this way). Just search for fuel sock in the 2nd gen section. I will go search for the fix and post it if you can't find it, but this is a pretty common problem.

Go to the auto parts store, buy a new fuel filter sock thingy, then go home. Open the trunk, peel back the carpet, unscrew the aluminum cover plate, unplug the fuel pump and fuel level sender (one plug). Then start the car and let it die (de-pressurize the fuel lines, you don't want fuel spraying everywhere), then undo the lines, unscrew the fuel tank cover and pull out the assembly. Replace the fuel filter sock thing on the bottom of the pump. Assembly is the reverse of disassembly (except for the de-pressurizing the lines part).
Problem solved. Time for this thread to get closed. Seriously, this is a VERY common problem and has been covered hundreds of times. Do a search next time.
