Unhappy Fuel Cut off switch not working anymore???

Hey guys, before I left to Florida, I was having problems turning on my car. The fuel cut off switch did not work anymore. I would have to turn on the switch for a sec. or two and then turn off while cranking the car to get fuel in the sys. and once it starts to turn on, I would turn it on. But this seems to be getting worse. Any ideas? Now I have to turn it on for more than 2 sec turn it off while cranking the car and turn it back on, and repeat this about 3 times to turn it on. Any ideas???

I can send them off to get them cleaned right? Or 'rebuilt?' How much does that usually run?

Since you've obviously needed to use this switch for a while, I'd say your low-compression engine is simply getting worse.

Remember that it's cheaper to rebuild an engine before it blows than after...

Simply replace the $2.00 dollar switch and see what happens.
Mechanical parts wear out. 95% of electrical switches are mechanical
and depending on manufacturer will wear out.
Cut the two wires and replace with a new switch. The wires don't have a + or - so wiring a new switch is easy.
I have a old motor that should be re-built but the switch has added life to my 86.

Cheapest thing to do at this point is to try a new $2.00 switch, or eliminate the switch completely by tying both stock wires back together.

He's not saying the switch itself doesn't work, he's saying using the switch is no longer as effective at preventing flooding. A new switch won't help this dying engine...

So the only other way to fix this problem would be to rebuild the motor, huh?

That, which it probably will need in the future anyway, NZ is right that it's cheaper to rebuild now than later. Or, fix your very leaking injectors first and see if that works. If not, rebuild.
