Exclamation Fuel Cut?

my 1988 turbo rx7 is having issues. not suprising. i start it up and it runs fine and when i get moving it works good 2. when the turbo kicks in its strong and it feels fine. this is gonna be hard to explain but bare with me. i do a quick run up and down the street but after the first time going up the road it spools great in all gears, but on my way back it doesnt go fast at wot. it stutters alot at only like 2200rpms. but when i shut the car off and turn it back on, it works. so what do u guys think. thanx

Did we ever check the TPS for bad spots? What pressure sensor/AFM were you using? Fuel cut is only temporary at WOT, when the boost hits ~8.5psi

hmmm the twin scroll wouldnt do that kind of sputtering u are explaining
it might give u a little power loss on low RPM now but no cuts
and u are saying the turbo spools good and strong

okay what could it be. not injectors i think cuz it doesnt sputter when its cold and on its way of getting warm. but when it is warm it does sputter. any other suggestions. im going insane. its no way my second injectors right? i did the grounding stuff already, and when i restart the car on and off while driving and i restart it, its perfect again. im thinking its a pressure sensor problem.

Pressure sensor or water thermo sensor. Pull the error codes off the s4 ecu.

What's the number on your pressure sensor. N3??. Also, the water thermo sensor is on the back of the waterpump with a green connector.

Rat mentioned the short range TPS way back at the start.
I'll bet you have a resistance drop out at part throttle.
At first that condition likes to hide until after it gets hot under the hood.

I'm up near Jax.

It's easy to test a TPS with a cheap needle type meter.
Set the meter on the 1K ohms scale and clip on to pins A & B.
(I clipped this from the FSM)

Hold off the throttle & work the TPS plunger in & out.

The needle should sweep SMOOTHLY from near 0 to near 5K.

If the meter needle jumps around during the stroke, the TPS is worn out.

My TII does something KINDA similar. Run it hard and it sputters in the top of 2nd, 3rd, 4th, and 5th. I'm obviously hitting fuel cut due to big exhaust/intake and not having ported my wastegate yet. I'm just going easy on the car till I can pull the turbo.

yeah urs id def prob fuel cut over. ryde or die says it might be the resistor thing for the fuel cuz the 87's were high impedence i think and the 88's were low. would that be the problem. why does it fix its self when i restart the car??? im gonna swap the tps and see if that helps at all. ill post how it goes.
