fuel coolant or oil.. that is the question

an interesting new problem has arisin, and mind you the smoke at statup issue has been covered numerous times the posts i read after much searching didnt answer my question.

i replaced my injectors with cleaned and flow tested ones.. and i switched to royal purple.. now i get horrible cold start problems and a hell of a lot of white smoke at startup.

when i cold start the car it is hard as hell to start.. and starts on only one rotor with some pretty hearty exhaust backfires... then the second rotor kicks in and the smoke starts (rear rotor, thats why i got true duals ) then clears up.. car runs great afterwards.

the pops and one rotor not firing at start leads me to believe its fuel and not coolant but im not sure.. would coolant cause exhaust backfires?

Fuel will be more gray/black than either oil or coolant, if its fuel it will be obvious the smoke is not white. Coolant will dissipate very quickly, while oil will just float away with whatever wind you have.

as for dissipation the cloud kinda hangs around a while.. it doesnt smell distinctly like anything more then exhaust,

would a stuck or broken apex seal cause unburned fuel to accumulate in the exhaust? that would explain the smoke and backfires as well as sorta suit the circumstances it all started under

Sounds like maybe carbon buildup is causing a seal to stick, how many miles on the engine? What are the compression numbers?

Might wanna put some atf in the rear rotor overnight and start saving to ship off the engine to kevin landers.

the engine is a mystery unfortunately, we pulled it out of another 7 to put into this one, which was supposed to be sold .. but i ended up liking it an keepin it an now im a rotorhead. i know it is a rebuild but no idea what year it was built or what kind of mileage its seen. only reason i know its a rebuild is it has turbo housings on it. been thinkin about the atf trick, perhaps thats the answer
