I am just not excited about taking off the dash to access the connectors, but looks like its gotta be done.

Yeah, the TII pull is nothing short of amazing, I havent gotten it out of 2nd gear because I have no tags on the car. And I cant go tear-assing around my hood, too many little kids. So in order to do pulls, I have to sneak onto the main road and get my pulls done, and the back off the road, QUICK!

I really would like to get the stock boost gauge working, I hate it when things dont work for me! I will whip out the DMM tonight and get to work. I am pretty sure the ECU is getting a boost signal, cause it pulls the same wether the guage is working or not. But I want to be sure. I have looked EVERYWHERE for a tool that can supply a vacuum and pressure, but I havent found one, so I have to devise a way to apply pressure so I can check the voltages.

What fun...

Question HAILERS, the pass window was working before I did the swap, and no its not. And there is an un-identified black plug thats right by the knock sensor area. Could I have unplugged the door control harness?

Well, anytime you add on an FCD, it makes the boost gauge inaccurate. You are better off just buying an aftermarket gauge.

I'm not familiar with the pwr windows to that extent. Never looked at mine. The fuel gauge.......I think I'd look at the schematic and use that dmm to try to ring out the wiring to the gauge from the fuel pump plug.

I can't even attach jpg of schematics this time of day on this site. Maybe tomorrow or real late.

I looked at the schematic for the windows and the plug for the right window is located a bit lower than the boost controller. The plug has just two wires, a Green and a Red wire. Ah! but there is another over there and its got five wires a G, GW, RW, R and a BL. Its hard to say exactly where those plugs are from the picture. Its dark right now and I'm not inclined to go out doors. The gunfire starts about now in the hood. Kaboooie, Bam, Pop.

Agreed... I would just like everything to work as advertised before I start modifying things. I am going to have to do something about the gauge, since its going in to get the exhaust replaced sometime in the next few weeks. And I will probably have to put my FCD back in (although I have NO clue how to wire it).

ALL,

I pulled the cluster this evening. Lot of the ground screws were loose so I just tightened them up. Now the boost gauge seems to work. At least when I turn the key on, after a sec it jumps above zero. Fuel gauge is working also...Cant say if reseating the connectors or tightening the grounds did it, but something worked.

Be real careful with that FCD reinstallation. I've seen a couple of posts on this site where something has gone askew with the installation and it's whacked the ECU. Not a cheap thing to fix.

You using a RB FCD or a DIY FCD???

Just to be argumenative about the stock boost gauge and accuracy with the FCD. It will be accurate until you hit the clamping voltage that the FCD has been set to and the limits of the factory boost gauge i.e. the top figure on the gauge. I bought a RB FCD thru Rotary Performance and used it for a week or so before I made my own. Their clamping voltage was at something like 3.2 volts. Way tooooo low for me. I set mine b/t 3.2 to 3.6, I forget the figure right now, so the factory gauge reads accurately to the top of its readings. Then it just stops reading as the boost goes up, up and away.

A lite note: I think those flying cop copters should be fair game for my Winchester, along with any and all boom box cars that go down the street. They've got that one CD that goes, BOOM, BOOMITY, BOOM......over and over and over and over. Strange people.

The FCD that came with the car is a JET FCD. There is no reason that I have right now to re-install it. The stock boost gauge, although working, seems to still need a slight tap every so often to keep working. Good news is that the ECu is getting the voltage. So, time for an aftermarket gauge.

As far as the ghetto bird..Wierd thing is, as soon as the cars that go BOOM pass by the chopper shows up. Coincidence?
