Question fuel adjustment

how do i adjust my fuel??

my car is running very rich... i can smell the fuel while i'm driving... also, there's some kind of back pressure; i hear popping sounds coming from the exhaust... is there a problem with this? help please.

i have a 86 FC3S non-turbo 5spd

Check the ECU codes. Might be a water thermo sensor or an Oxygen sensor...

Do you have a hole or leak in the exhaust? This would creat popping..

You should also check your car for leaks (especially under the upper intake manifold area). There's a common failure on RX7's with the pulsation dampner which can lead to fires (yikes!) if not taken care of. Better be safe than sorry and check!

my exhaust is stock...
i still need to know how to check for codes in my car without the tool... thanks..
and how to see if my pulsation dampener is bad or leaking...

i found out how to get the codes... and i found out that my pulsation dampener is leaking... all i need to know now is to see if i can fix the pulsation dampener without replacing it with a new one...

You should be able to order one from Mazda. Or replace it with a banjo bolt like many other people do.

Just remember that a banjo bolt doesn't do a PD's job, but makes sure it doesn't leak and cause a fire. Whichever is more important to you, you have to decide. I'd have to search and find specs.
