FTP probelm

When i try to use my ftp option the headlights pop up and then go back down instantly . The headlight switch is new from mazdamark and i got the turn signal switch off of ebay . turn signals work fine . with the headlights up i can go from high to lo beam without a problem . dimmer switch works fine . headlight retractor switch works fine . the only problem i have is that when the headlights are down and off and i pull back on the ftp (high beam) stalk the high beams turn on but the headlights also pop up . Any ideas on why this might be happening . I searched for almost an hour and found no answers . I went over the car and everything seems fine as far as fuses and wiring go . Any help , ideas , or answers would be appreciated . TIA .

Has it been that way as long as you've had the car? It sounds like someone did some wiring for an alarm so the headlights go up and down when triggered, and didn't use diodes to isolate the set up.

the headlight switch and the trun signal swith need to be from the same series (S4 or S5)
you can't interchange them with out doing some re-pining of the connectors.

look at this diagram, mazdamark made this diagram.

BTW this is a diagram of the wire harness connector.

and you should also do this:

I did both on my car.

I know for a fact that i am using a s4 headlight switch with the mazdamark relay . Im also almost positive that i am also using an s4 turn signal switch . the turn signal switch is totaly functional except for when i try to flash to pass , when i do this the high beams are activated and the lights retract as opposed to staying down and emmiting through the ftp lenses .
