HID would be a better option. There are also legal and safety issues when you mess with custom lights instead of getting something that's approved.
The headlights are 75W each which requires 18W of LEDs (each) to match. Last time I checked a 1W LED was $10, had a wide spread, and jimmying up lenses for them would be a nightmare.
LEDs are popular for the brake lights b/c brake lights are lower power (especially since red LEDs don't waste power on other colors that just gets filtered out by the cover), but again it'd be better to get something pre-made and hopefully legal/safe.

Bro
Just put some small fog lights into the ftp
You don't want HID, you want small fog lights, Not led's, not hids, fog lights.
Mount them behind the ftp so they dont hit the headlamp and run the wires so they dont catch on anything, and the rest is up 2 you, read the FSM electricial section if your curious on how the headlights work, suppose you could do a relay.
