Frzen door locks?

So I've been an FC owner for 6 years now. There's one thing I've noticed out of the 4 that I've owned is they always freeze up during the winter time. Every lock and door is frozen solid almost every night. I'm tired of bent keys and struggling to get inside my car when others get in and drive home at work.

My old Maxima, Miata, and my 79 Sa have never frozen.

Does anyone have a solution? New seals? maybe an antifreeze solution rubbed or sprayed on the seals/ locks?

Any kind of oil or grease you can use to help keep the moisture off the moving parts should help (and smooth them up).

Or move someplace warmer..

I have had this problem. the door seals froze to the door.. So when i got mine to open after unfreezing the lock the seal tore off and stuck to the door.. I would try some greese of some sort on the seals. because the super soft rubber will form to the door. I dont get why exactly. But i would try something that will not eat away at the rubber. But something that will make it so the door seals will not stick. they are hard to get

This is what i use for chicago winters...

lube your door seals with a product called shin-etsu greese avail form honda for some crazy high price. never had a issue with door seals freezing up. It is a light greese so i assume you can use a light coating of a very light greese.

If your key hole is freezing up use a lock de-icer... the problem with that is the design of the door handle.

there is specific lock lube you use, it is cheap.- I would not use anything else. First time you use it spray the **** out of the lock so it flushes it out and cleans it, lots of brown junk will come out. After that it will be fine.
The locks freeze up on the gate at work and I never have a problem when I use the lock lube.

Lots of locksmiths will specifically tell you NOT to use WD40

What about PB Blaster? Think I'll give that a shot. Maybe rub the seals down with some windshield deicer in the spray bottle. It says to prevent window ice to spray the glass and leave it on. Might work for rubber too.

Are the flaps still intact on your lock cylinders? The FC's have plastic flaps, and they go missing....

a little spray on the rubber itself will help, but this is one thing I dont miss about DD a RX7 is everything being frozen on it. I used to have ice on the inside of my windows, lol
I will never own a DD without remote start again.

WD-40 will unstick it then and there, but it's oil based, so gunk will eventually build up on it.
