Front speaker mount not there........

I bought some phoenix gold 4'' speakers for the front. The left speaker went in easy, although it doesn't sit in perfectly but its there if you know what I mean. I went to take out the grill for the right speaker and there was nothing there, just some speaker connectors, no mounting brackets or whatever is supposed to be in there isn't there. So what do I need to get guys? I don't know exactly whats SUPPOSED to be in there. Obviously someone was in there before cause there wasn't a stock speaker in there to begin with.

the right side had a amp, not like the left, it was about a foot long or so and the speaker would have been inside that, in order to go other than stock your gonna have to get creative.. i bought my 5 1/4's b4 i got the car cause crutchfield said thats what i needed, well no door speakers so i put em in the dash.. worked out pretty well, just needed zip ties and creativity.. sure you'll figure something out...

Zip ties? That doesn't sound so sturdy.

I put in a 4 inch on the Passenger by drilling a couple holes through the Plastic and inserting Screws and nuts..The thing that I found though,is that you want to Lift the speaker up a touch(like use a spacer). When the bass hits,it Taps the Plastic Dash piece and gives it "cone Buzz".

Yea I was thinking of just drilling holes through the plastic. Hopefully its sturdy enough.

k so the screws go into the cover and through the speakers just as if it were being connected properly, then into the little C clips that come with them, then i put the zip ties through the C clip and snugged the screw down.. then the zip ties run through the stock holes that held the 4" speakers, now if i want to go back to stock say 10 years later when some collector wants it (doubtful buy who knows) it will be alot easier than trying to fill holes drilled to fit speakers in...

and the pass side is not visible, its mounted behind the grill in the dash just like the stock one, just zip tied that to the metal bar that runs along the bottom and i don't remember how i attached it to the top. maybe 1 of the 2 screw holes that were up there.. dunno been about a year since i put it together

edit: so everytime i see this pic i cringe, anyone got some stock floor mats that say RX7 for sale... that one is nasty...

There are two options on the right dash speaker. The factory amp, or the factory plate.

Depending on what model, the passengers dash speaker mounts to either the plate or in the amp.

If you have neither, then you should cut a plate out of some alumin sheet or heavy duty (1/4 ) abs sheet. then mount the new plate to the factory grill/trim panel, and then the speaker to the plate.

You can not mount a speaker with Zip ties, or mickey mouse it as in the picture above in this thread and expect any decent sound quality out of it at all. The speaker needs to be mounted to something solid that preferably prevents any of the back wave (sound coming off the back side of the speakers cone) from mixing with the front wave, as you will loose volume and quality if that happens. Again a mounting plate or to the factory amp is the only way to mount and get decent sound quality.
