front headlamps

anyone know what they're called or at least what to search for...

im looking for front headlamps that aren't sealed so i can just change the bulbs on them when i want to... or need to instead of buying replacement sealed ones each time

you can do a search for HID or H4. also try just 'headlamp conversion'. i think there is a page by icemark in the archive that shows the diff between multiple bulbs and the stock fc sealed ones.

dont go with the ebay ones... the metal bracket that holds the light in will not fit around them and build quality was pretty low too http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/H6054...spagenameZWDVW

or just go with silverstars. i was gonna convert mine and go HIDs but whatevs the silverstars are fine

Honestly, the Stock headlights When new,Would most likely Outlast the Car.If you throw on a set of 6054 Silverstar Headlights, they would serve the purpose..If you want to Change your Lights Out Frequently, like Blue to silver Etc,then you would go to Hella Light Casings, and they have a Hole, for the bulbs, you can change over.,.BUT you would probably need a Wiring set-up to handle the powe they require(they would burn the stock wiring out)..So Ballasts and relays,Etc...Oh also look under this Post..Down at the end of the page.it has associated Info of a similar Thread Nature.Good luck.

the metal brackets will fit around the ebay housings with a little stretching of the thin aluminum housing surrounds..i did it because they were cheap lights of course but they are the crystal cut housings not the damn projecter or any other true bullshit housings..i have silverstar bulbs in the housings so lighting is pretty damn good also. yes there are plenty better housings out there but if looking for the cheap route they will do ok. i dol want to upgrade to the seprate hella lamps semi soon though

except the Cibie housings (as well as most Hella's) are E code and technically not legal for use in the USA.

You need DOT certified housings to be legal for street use in the USA. There will be a DOT lettering in the glass of the lens, on these.

Stay away from the ebay diamond cut or projector lights... they are useless.

Diamond cut vs stock vs DOT housings comparison here: http://www.mazdamark.com/HIDLightComparison.htm

Note: In the USA you want the light coming out of the lens to be a fairly flat light (ideally a rectangle in front of the light), you do not want the light to be just a ball, or to flare up on one side (which tends to be blinding other drivers).
