Fried EGI unit?

Well, I think that I have fried the EGI in my '87TII that I have been fixing up. Heres the deal.
Car running rough at all speeds (sounds like misfiring). In the process of checking for spark I pulled the spark plug wires, one at a time, from the coils. When I pulled the one nearest the 'check code' and 'initial set' connectors, the spark danced around to all of the pins in the connectors before I got it under control!!

Prior to this I had set the idle speed and mixture with the 'initial set' connector shorted and noticed a slight change in rpm when I inserted the short. Now, when I insert a short there is no change in the rpm. Additionally, I was letting the engine warm up so that I could perform a compression test and the idle was much better than it has been. After about 20 minutes of idleing, the car started running very rough and the engine stalled. I tried to restart it and the battery was to weak to even make the solenoid engage. I recharged the battery and the engine easily started but I noticed that none of the idiot lights come on when I turn the key on. What could have caused the battery to discharge while the car was running??

What are my options? I pulled the EGI unit and opened it up but found no obvious damage.

This is the N332 18 881 EGI unit.

Thanks for any input or suggested sources.
