Red face fresh rebuild oil pressure problem?

the motor is an S4 TII.
im using an aftermarket oil pressure gauge.
i also checked the oil filter an no oil.
i only cranked maybe 6-7 times with no fuel or spark going to it. how long does it take before i see pressure...should i keep cranking at 10 second intervals?? if so should i inject a little oil into the housings?
or am i going to have to check the oil pump an so on??

Did you double check things like oil pickup gasket, front cover o-ring, and other critical things oil related things during reassembly? Where did you attach the oil pressure gauge (stock location)? What is the total time you've cranked so far?

i probably cranked the motor just inder a minute in 10 second intervals.
what would the oil pickup gasket do?? clog it?? not seal and cause it not to pump the oil? aftermarket oil pressure is connected VIA oil filter pedestal. as stated there wasnt any oil in the oil filter pedestal.

well after a nite of searching i found i should have the plugs out.....DUH!!!
so im gonna pull the plugs, prime the system by pouring oil in the oil filter holes and see if i can get some pressure here in a bit.

It takes a little while for the oil pump to start pumping at low speeds if it was not lubed upon installation. As long as everything was properly lubricated during assembly you can just start the engine. The oiling system will prime almost instantly.

ok, i just come back form some more cranking. i even pulled the oil feed form the turbo and no oil came out. maybe if i hook my GF's car to it so it may crank a little faster i might get results...

i just got done reading this and didnt really get a final answer

id like to but im a bit nervous. i dont want the motor to sieze since there isnt even pressure in the turbo outlet feed.

ladies and gentlemen.....

WE HAVE PRESSURE!

i removed the oil cooler line from the front cover, used a hose and funnel and poured some oil in there. i then cranked the motor until the oil started coming back into the funnel. replaced the oil cooler line and within 2-3 cranks i had pressure!!

thanks everyone for your help!!

no to get this rebuild to run!!!
