I have one on my car and I think it makes a difference, especially when the air outside is cold. It would make no difference, of course, if you didn't have an open air filter different than the factory. If you do get one, and you want to make it fully functional, you should use heat resistant material and build a "box" around your air filter, so that you have nice cool air for your filter. One thing you should know is that the headlight cover is not metal, it is a thin plastic, so if you get it you will have to line the inside of it with ducktape, otherwise the right front of your car will glow at night!

These headlight covers may look cool but they are functional. I bought a kit at Borders in Japan and they do help. I got about a 40 degree drop at the open filter
when I tested it on the freeway. That's quite a bit. I never imagined how hot it got at the filter.
And no, they are not made of plastic and no they do not glow at night when the headlights are on.
They're made of thick fiberglass.

I bought my headlight cover from rx7.com, and yes at night the headlight was glowing through. There were thin spots of (whatever material was used) causing the light to glow through.
