Thats what I have been told ,but I'm not sure. I took off the boot and the rubber peice is broken all around. But then I look at my buddys and his is to ,but its the tightest shifter I've ever felt

The bushings are on the end of the shifter, that rubber piece does nothing for the "feel" of the shifter. If the bushings are gone they need replacing!

not necc..

some ppl have a problem with the "socket" itself...

the ball joint and socket that the shifter pivots in might be messed up... so the ball on the end of the shifter ends up comin out of it's socket...

change the bushings first.. but if this doesn't fix it, don't be suprised...

if it's the socket.. only way to fix it, is to drop the tranny...
