Found out why I've been losing to cars that I shouldn't be.

As some of you might recall, I posted about the blue smoke in between shifts a few days ago so I took the car to a local rotary guy.

After removing the turbo, he showed it to me and the turbine blades on the manifold side had semi-circle pieces missing from the tips. The blades were so cooked they had a bumpy, brown rusted appearance. He also informed me that when he had it sitting on the floor of his shop for about 2 minutes it had oil leaking out from the inside. There wasn't any shaft play but it was sure obvious why I'm only hitting 7psi with DP and MP.

Over the course of the last 3 months I had lost runs with a Bullitt Mustang, got nosed by an Audi A8 and also a Celica GTS. Not any more....

I shipped the turbo off to Majestic Turbo today - so in about 7-10 days I'll be on the lookout for the aforementioned ducks.

What a relief - I was hoping and praying for the turbo to be the culprit. It's going to be a different beast very soon - can hardly wait....

Good luck with the new turbo I have heard good things about Majestic. How much are they charging you for your upgrade?? I have talked to them a couple of times and I may send them my turbo for a similar upgrade as well.

If your turbo is wasted that bad, I'd suggest you drain and flush your engine. You don't know what's been injected into your engine.

There is no way that something can get injected in the engine from the exhaust. The compressor is the front not the back, also it sounds like normal wear. Just make sure that the rear turbine blades are missing pieces due to melting and not from apex seal or other internal engine component breakage.

They gave me a figure of $650 over the phone - but that may fluctuate contingent on evaluating my turbo once they receive it.

"Kevin" at Majestic is suggesting a TO4E-46 compressor w/ a 5-10 degree clip. The clip is to help keep the air cool at high boost. I asked him "what's the trade-off?" and he stated that my boost will be delayed about 250-300rpm. (Since I had pieces missing from the hot side blades anyhow, I don't think I'll be noticing any lag.)

Just before I had the turbo removed a friend of mine and I went to a shop about 45 mins. from us called JapTrix to see what they do. They had 3 red FD's in there, a Type-R, a 10.08 second FC race car and lots of rotor stuff laying around the shop.

After talking to "Roger" he suggested running the larger compressor, a Haltech F5 AIC mounted on the driver's kick panel, plumb a single 720cc injector into back of I/C and run a Profec B. He's been running this setup on his TII that he is selling for quite a while. (or you can use SAFC with 720's up high) I'm pricing Profec B's now.

This will give me about "280rwhp". That'll enable me to stomp a lot more vehicles but I won't be tuning crap all the time (E6K). It's an alternate course of mod that's apparently more reliable. And then possibly a 50 shot wet NOS.

I'm just eager to get the turbo back - I'll give you guys a fresh post report after some drives.

P.S. Kevin at Majestic Turbo has been very polite and professional.

I sent mine to majestic a year ago for a rebuild and upgrade. It is a screamer. It whistles nicely out the back.
